"As an orthopedic surgeon I have learned about good Pilates and bad Pilates. Carolyn is a 'real' Pilates instructor who has had significant impact on many of my patients. They have learned from Carolyn great Pilates and have experienced the unparalleled benefits of this exercise regime."

George J. Tischenko, M.D.

Carolyn Mueller, PMA® (Certified Pilates Teacher)

Her first encounter with a “reformer” happened when one of the doctors at Center for Sports Medicine in San Francisco prescribed Pilates for a dance injury in 1985.

Inspired, Carolyn then studied Pilates with Master teacher Eve Gentry, who trained directly with Joseph Pilates. Carolyn was with Eve and Michele Larsson for a year and earned her Pilates teaching certificate in 1989.

Carolyn Mueller has a BA. Degree in Dance and Physical Education from UC Davis and an M.A. in Dance from Mills College with extended movement training at Stanford University, UC Berkeley and University of Hawaii at Manoa. She has also completed numerous workshops and intensives, including Intensive Intermediate-Advanced and Scoliosis Pilates training with Michelle Larsson, and a four day intensive workshop with Ron Fletcher. She is a Certified Pilates Teacher and member of
PMA® - the Pilates Method Alliance.

Carolyn has been teaching dance and movement at the elementary, High School, College and University levels for 36 years. She has a California State teacher's credential to teach physical education and dance movement.

She has created and developed the Pilates Classes and the curriculum for Dance degree at Diablo Valley College in California.

Barbara Hoffer

Barbara turned to Pilates in 1997, when the corporate management training career she loved left her body a wreck because of frequent travel and constant stress. Already a Certified Massage Therapist and Hatha Yoga Instructor since 1981, Barbara turned to Pilates in 1997 and began teaching in 2002.

Learning to thrive after breast cancer enhances Barbara's work as a healing teacher who understands firsthand the impact of stress on the body. Her mission is to push her clients past places where they may be stuck through compassion and a helping hand. What gets her up in the morning is her desire to help others gain and maintain a healthier body at every stage of life.

Pilates Instructor Certification, The Physical Mind Institute of NYC; Post Rehabilitative Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist, The Pink Ribbon Program; Golf Conditioning Specialist, Hole in One Pilates International

    Dena Rasmussen

Dena is a stay at home mom with two small children. She began dancing at the age of five and continued into her late teens. Her first exposure to Pilates was in a gym setting with Mat Classes. Dena regularly participated in Mat work throughout her twenties along with a variety of styles of Yoga and Dance inspired movement classes.
After her second child and second c-section Dena decided she wanted and needed an exercise program that would be gentle enough on her healing body but still provide a full body and mind experience. Her love of Pilates deepened and her personal practice expanded. She completed the teacher-training course with Nora St. John, earning her certificate at Turning Point Studios in Walnut Creek, California.

Pilates has changed Dena’s life in many ways. She is stronger, healthier and appreciates all that her body does for her every day. Dena looks forward to sharing her enthusiasm and love of movement with people to help them improve their lives as well.

Dena teaches Private, duets or small classes
